The second two use two different larger bobbin pulleys, with number 4 using the largest, like I have. The first two use the small bobbin-winder pulleys like a bobbin tire would fit on. This parts list shows four different bobbin winders, three obsolete, so I've been paging back and forth in the parts list making scribbly notes of the differences. I started looking at the 1919 66-1 parts list to learn more about the bobbin winders, because the Lotus has THE BIGGEST bobbin winder pulley I've ever seen, 1.5 inches in diameter and knurled on the inside. I currently have three 66s, two with red-eye decals (19) and one with lotus (1907). (I am going to add to this thread rather than start another, and hope I remember to search for it later!) Some of the resources I have found for 66 machines can be found at and There is also a Red Head pictured in the 1924 catalog as seen at Note that it has the heart shaped cam on the back. View Member Profile Send Email Find Member's Topics Find Member's Posts OurWorkbenchĪbout a month ago, I did some bobbin winder research for someone on the other board, until I finally figured out that the problem was the belt hub (at post #18). In a world where you can be anything, be kind. This is all I found so far: (there's a little chart at the bottom which might help, but I don't have corresponding manufacture dates) I have made some forays into the interwebs but haven't found anything helpful yet. But if I have variations, I need to know which years got which bobbin winder. I've seen some were referred to as "cam" versions, some were "rim" versions and some were "simple" versions? Some had a heart "cam" on the outside of the spinny round disc - is that the cam version? How do I find out which version went to which years? Anyone know? I would have thought that these Red Eyes would all have the same kind of bobbin winder, but perhaps not.? I need to go through the bin of winder parts again. There were some that ran from the belt and some that ran on the wheel itself.

Now I recall that the bobbin winder was changed over the years. My fantasy is that I might have time to sort through the winders and put some together during my time of immobility. I am having foot surgery tomorrow and will be laid up a while. I just thought I might ask some preliminary questions before I go at it again.
#HOW TO THREAD MY BOBBIN ON SINGER RED EYE 66 INSTALL#
It's been several weeks so I don't remember the details of why I couldn't install it. and attempted to install it, but it doesn't line up right. In cleaning and reassembling one of the heads I grabbed an already assembled bobbin winder (some are disassembled which would maybe not cause panic in most of you, but I was considerably dismayed. The previous owner had removed most parts for cleaning including the bobbin winders. I have, ahem, a number of 66 Red Eye/Redhead machines. Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but.
